Deportable Crime Reduced to Municipal Ordinance

A Successful Defense And Result For Our Client

Location:

Union County Superior Court

Union County Courthouse

2 Broad Street,

Elizabeth, N.J. 07207

The lawyers at Bailey& Orozco appear frequently in the Union County Superior Court, vigorously defending the rights of our clients. Listed below are the facts and outcome of one of our actual cases in which we represented our client in this Court.

State of New Jersey v. SD

Outcome: Deportable Crime reduced to Municipal Ordinance (with no deportation)

Description: The client was charged with a Theft related crime that if they were convicted of after trial or plead guilty to, would have been an automatic basis for deportation. We successfully arranged a downgrade of the charge from the Superior Court to the Municipal Court; and, then negotiated a plea to a Municipal Ordinance (an offense that is akin to not cutting your grass) that was not an offense in the criminal code, and therefore with no impact on our client's ability to remain in the US. No criminal conviction. No deportation.
