State of New Jersey v. SS
Outcome: 2nd Degree Aggravated Assault No-Billed by the Grand Jury
Description: The client became involved in a bar fight while defending several friends from being assaulted. The client was then assaulted and hit with a beer mug, severely cutting open the side of his face. The bar bouncer decided to eject all persons involved from the bar, including the client and the three persons who assaulted the client. Outside of the bar, the three people started to assault the client again, with client defending himself, which resulted in one of them getting severely injured. The client left the scene to get treated at the hospital, not realizing that the people who assaulted him would lie to the police and accuse him of assaulting them. Given the severe injuries to the supposed victim, the police charged the client with Attempted Murder. We investigated the incident before the client surrendered to the police. We developed three good witnesses who gave written statements of what actually occurred. We provided the statements and the witnesses to the police; and the client offered to testify before the Grand Jury. After the client testified, the Grand Jury refused to indict the client, and instead indicted the three other people who assaulted the client. No Charges and Record ready to be Expunged.
